Colour Where You Aren't Expecting It - A New Wedding Trend for 2018?
When it comes to wedding colours, sometimes it can be tricky to create something surprising. Whether you are a traditional bride looking to inject some subtle colour into your day, an alternative bride seeking to add colour wherever you can, or you are somewhere in between, and really like the pantone colour of the year, there are lots of ways that you can incorporate some brights into your day. Here is a selection of my favourites that will make you - and your guests - smile!
Delicious Dip-Dyed Dresses
These dresses are a revelation and a revolution. The range of colours and designs means that you can be any kind of bride that you want to be. Lucy Can't Dance takes this one step further, and has a 'mix and match' collection designed, so you can swap out different colours, skirts and top options, anything from tasselled long sleeved tops to delicate lace with different coloured slips. They have recently launched their newest 2018 collection, which you can check out here. They have their own boutique in Chelmsford, Essex and are also stocked in Rock the Frock bridal boutique.
Blue Flower Water?!
When one thinks of colour at a wedding, flowers are top of the list. But flower boutique Bloaum have taken this to the next level, and showcased their blue water vases at the Most Curious Wedding Fair. The amazing Shelena of @bloaum tested it our before the show to make sure her blue water innovation wouldn't make the all the flowers turn blue! Now we know it works - definitely get in touch with her if you want to raise some eyebrows (in a good way!) on your big day.
Colour Pop Charger plates
A stand-out charger plate can be a game changer in your table design. They can offer a pop of colour to a traditional tablescape, or add texture and intrigue to your layout. I love this luxurious amythst place setting.
Flower Power Drinks
I'm going to put it out there: edible flowers make everything better. If you aren't fully sold on having coloured drinks, like the purple beauties below, then edible flowers as a garnish add a flourish without conjuring up a 'magic potion' aesthetic. The barmen at The Ace Hotel even use edible flowers in the drink to infuse a purple colour in their cocktails - very on trend, and no nasty chemicals!
Shoes that Surprise
Picture this: during your ceremony, you glide around like a swan that has had some night nurse; serene, calm and the epitome of beauty. When it's time for the party, and you need to hitch up your dress to get up on the table and dance, BAM! Green/yellow/hot pink shoes! Photos will be taken, jaws will drop, your friends will all be asking "where on earth did you get those shoes?!" and all before you can say 'knees up mother brown'.
If you are keeping things simple and traditional on your big day, but you fancy a cheeky summin' summin' to keep people talking, a bright pair of shoes might be the way to go.
Fantastical Favours
Favours can often feel a little out dated. However, I still think it is a cute touch to offer something to your guests, either something meaningful that they can keep hold of, or something fun for the day! This next suggestion falls in to the second category: mini meringues! These gorgeous meringues from Meringue Girls are adorable, and bring a touch of colour that can be created bespoke to match your colour scheme. There is nothing these ladies can't create! Plus, if you want to take the personal touch to the next level, how about hand written personalised macarons?
So there you have it! My whistle stop tour through a few ways to add a cheeky touch of colour into your wedding plans. I'd love to hear about what your plans are for colour scheme, and what you think will make your guests giggle, gasp and grin.
